Girls Band Cry The Movie opens in Japan on 21 May 2027, a brand-new film continuing Togenashi Togeari’s story, not a compilation. Announced 3 November 2026 at the band’s Special LIVE “Akairo no Kyosai”.
Key Points
- Opens in Japan on 21 May 2027; announced 3 November 2026.
- A new story, not a compilation of the 2024 series.
- Kazuo Sakai directs, Jukki Hanada writes; Toei Animation produces.
A new chapter, not a recap
An original 13-episode series from 2024, about a band that argues, breaks and reforms — not a famous manga or game — earned its following the hard way; the two 2025 compilation films retold that story. This film moves forward: two months after leaving their agency, vocalist Nina Iseri rallies the band for a 50-stop nationwide tour.

Why it matters
Original anime rarely get a second theatrical life, let alone one following a band out of the safety of a label. The film’s tour and the band’s real K-Arena Yokohama concert on 20 March 2027 are two halves of one bet. No international date has been announced.
